Sometimes, a bad day just happen. There are times when things just don’t go the way you want to, and there are times when you feel like the world is testing you. No signals, no warnings, they just happen. During these times, all you want to do is get angry. You don’t want to talk to anyone, because everyone is equally annoying and they get on your nerves.

But what if you are that one person who never get mad? What if you are that person who always understands others and is always able to deal with different kinds of people, from the nicest ones to the a-holes? What if you’ve always been the life of the party?

You are way too afraid of hurting others, and you avoid conflict. You know it’s hard to change someone’s bad behavior, so you suit yourself. You try to understand everyone.

But here’s the thing.

You’ve been through a lot. You’ve worked hard, you’ve been kind and understanding, you’ve dealt with people who look you down, you’ve been calm and patient. You’ve always been the problem-solver and a good listener. You care for people, and you always try to be there for them. People come to you to talk about their problems. They depend on you.

As much as you enjoy doing these, you are hit by the fact that you have no one to depend on. Your problems, your happy news, your exciting stories, your bad days, all are kept within yourself.

That’s why you’re physically, emotionally, and mentally drained. Let me tell you, it’s completely normal. This mental breakdown is just a signal for you to slow down for a while. Just because you’re quiet, just because you’re always happy and bubbly, and just because you don’t talk about your problems, doesn’t mean your life is easy. We all have a story to tell, whether we whisper or yell.

Sometimes we feel that the universe is on our side. Sometimes it isn’t, and it’s completely normal. So cry. Binge eat junk food. Rewatch your favorite TV show for the 8th time while eating a full bowl of ice cream. Shop. Pamper yourself. Ride a roller coaster. Travel. Whatever makes you happy. Do it every once in a while.

It’s good to be kind to others, but don’t forget to be kind to your own self first.

It’s okay to be mad sometimes, and it’s okay to cry your heart out. It’s okay to put yourself above others, it’s okay to listen to yourself. It’s okay to be alone. It’s okay to catch feelings. It’s okay to feel. It’s okay to be you.

It’s okay.
